Mediocrity

I was reminded of a great phrase today “the momentum of mediocrity” as stated in Don Juan de Marco. As a younger person I was so concerned of becoming subpar and boring. Lately I’m so caught up in surviving and paying my bills I can’t worry about boring. Sigh.

I must remember the struggle with the mediocre. Focus on the beauty in the everyday, the unique, the amazingness of life. Luckily my girls value the smallest details of life…I just need only look through their eyes to see beauty everywhere.

I absolutely H-A-T-E when friends tell you that you are something that you are not.  More specifically, they try to tell you what you think.  As if it is possible that that person knows me better than myself.  And, when you disagree?  They argue in that annoying “Uh hunh…I’ll just let you think that but I know better” kind of way.  Absolutely infuriating.  I suppose overall I am so upset because if this friend believes what she is saying then she really doesn’t know me at all.

Sometimes the world is just too much to take.

My bag is Lost?

I sent in a very precious Balenciaga bag to Avelle for refurbishment in early November.  I was nervous, but excited, and decided to send it there because finding a place to refurbish it at a reasonable amount anywhere near me was going to be difficult.  I did research on Avelle to be sure it was a legit company and was satisfied that yes, it did exist and they did do refurbishments.  Plus, for the minimal amount of money I figured it was worth the risk.

It has been TWO MONTHS and I have not received my bag back!  At first I never heard anything from them at all…and then when I did contact them they explained that it was a very busy season for them (understandably as it was the holidays) and that I would not receive my bag back until early January.  Okay, fine.  I was cool with that.  I figured it would be a nice “after the holidays” gift for myself to receive it back then anyway.

Well…today is January 27th…I still don’t have my bag.

I received a call two weeks ago [Friday, January 14th 2011] indicating that refurbishments were complete and that my account was going to be charged before they shipped out the bag.  I was Ecstatic to hear that my bag was finally coming home.  Their website indicates that they use UPS Ground shipping…which I confirmed after looking it up can take between 3-10 days.

It has been 14 days.

So I called today and was put on hold while someone named Aaron went to “find” the tracking number.  It couldn’t be found.  WTH?  I was told that the tracking number would be emailed to me once it was located.  WTH???

I just want my bag home – screw refurbishment – where is it?

S-I-G-H.

I’m afraid I really won’t ever see it again and I am having a hard time accepting that.  The words I really want to write here are not acceptable in polite company…please use your imagination…I’m sure even then you won’t be even Close to what I am saying with what my whole family refers to as my Infamous Trucker Mouth.

What else, what else, whatelse, whatelsewhatelse

Every time I sit down at the computer I realize that there is another something or other I can do to improve my website for Lush Cluster.  Be it Etsy or the Private Shop there is just SOOOO much!

I just sent out the Lush Cluster Winter/Valentine/New Year newsletter and I have gotten a lot of positive responses from friends and family – but NO SALES.  It is rather frustrating to be spinning your wheel so much and being unsure as to whether anything is actually coming of it.  AGH.  But I have to be strong and troop on right?

I have recently joined two Treasury teams which has been very exciting.  I have gotten a lot of traffic to my Etsy site and many more people have favorited my items and shop…but no sales.  Hmmph…but I did get propositioned by one other Etsy shop to join a traveling boutique.  I haven’t heard more information back from them yet but I’d love to hear more…maybe this could be a good thing for Lush Cluster???  I hope so.

I also joined the Etsy Success team which is supposed to provide good advice about how to have a more successful shop.  Fingers crossed.  I think the issue with that is making sure to visit the team page regularly to see what people are suggesting/doing.

In the meantime I am working on a few new things for friends – someone asked me to make cluster studs so I am trying to figure out that challenge.  I am also finishing a piece for my cousin who would be an amazing model for Lush Cluster…she has a great sense of fashion and always has awesome jewelry so hopefully her help would go far.

The list keeps growing…but I am trying everything!  Any insight would be welcome – wink.

I have been neglecting any new posts, any new pins at pinterest, and generally everything else right now as I get ready to launch my Valentine’s Day email for Lush Cluster.  I am basically busting butt to get all of the pieces finished, photographed, named, posted at both the Private Shop and the Etsy Shop.  AGH!!!  I miss you blog – I miss being able to add my favorite things to you and to ramble on…but alas I have work to do.  I will be back soon though!  Just to have a preview of what is to come here is a new piece I just created with LDR in mind…
